Samsung has finally released its Smart Camera in India. In news since past couple of months, Samsung launched their first Android based Smart Camera- the Samsung Galaxy Camera. It was first launched at Berlin in August this year. Samsung had started taking preorders few weeks back. Customers had to pay Rs. 3,000 as an initial amount & rest on its release. Samsung Galaxy Camera:
Samsung Galaxy Camera has 16.3MP (Effective Pixel) total being (approximately) a 17MP lens. It has 21x Digital & Optical Zoom. This lens is equipped with BSI CMOS sensor. This Smart Camera has HD Super Clear TFT LCD 4.77 inch Display. It has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels with pixel density of ~306ppi. It can record Full HD 1080p Videos at 30fps (frames per second).
Samsung Galaxy Camera is said to be a Camera version of Samsung Galaxy SIII. It has similar hardware with more focus given on the Camera sensors & its lens. The Smart Camera is built on 1.4 GHz Cortex A-9 Quad-Core processor. This processor is supported by Mali 400MP GPU. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Operating System. It has 8GB internal memory and SD slot which can support external memory up to 32 GB (micro SDHC) & up to 64 GB (micro SDXC). This smart camera has 1GB RAM. No wonder it will work as smooth as a high-end smartphone.
It also has a pop up Xenon flash at its top. The battery of Samsung Galaxy Smart Camera has a capacity of 1650mAh with a talktime of up to 4.5 hours. But Samsung offers an additional spare battery in the box. It has 15 Modes, an Auto mode and an Expert mode too. The dimensions of the camera are 70.8 x 128.7 x 19.1mm (W x H x D). It weighs around 300grams. It won’t be much difficult to slip this device into your pockets.
Smart Camera or Smartphone:
Samsung Galaxy Camera has many features as that of a Smartphone. It supports SIM card. It stores your contacts and can also send text messages & emails; but sorry you cannot make calls. These features distinguish Samsung Galaxy Camera in a Smart Camera section instead of a Smartphone. This Smart Camera also has connectivity features like GPS (with GLONASS), 3G & Wi-Fi to connect through internet. It has a better Bluetooth v4.0 which would help you to share the data with any of your phones or PCs.
It also has a mini HDMI 1.4 port. You can connect the Smart Camera with your pc using Samsung KIES via micro USB port at the side. The top of the camera has shutter button (with Zoom) & power button. The left side shows Flash adjustment button. The opposite side has USB v2.0 port & the bottom has the mini HDMI port, SIM slot, SD card slot & battery slot too.

Samsung Galaxy Camera has support to a number of apps as it is runs up on Android 4.1. It has access to Google Play Store which is a house to millions of apps. Samsung Galaxy Camera has a Photo Wizard App which will include 35 photo editing tools. Also, a Paper Artist app is present for unique photo editing. Video Editor Tool will help you for editing various format videos. Some of the standard features that it supports are- Google Search, Google Maps, G+, Youtube, etc. It also has inbuilt Instagram app for sharing images. Dropbox app will help you to back up your data on the cloud servers. Some other interesting apps would be Panorama Camera 360, Smart Content Manager, etc.
