Now Available: ASUS Nexus 7 in India

The Asus Nexus 7 tablet is now available in India. This tablet runs on the latest Android 4.1 JellyBean. It is also upgradable to version 4.2. This tablet was launched in mid-2012 but couldn’t be made available in India. The Asus Nexus 7 in India would be available between price range of Rs. 20,000 – Rs. 22,000. It has some exciting features which suit the price tag, but it fails to give calling facility as it does not have a SIM slot. This would be expected at such high price.

Asus Nexus 7 is the first tablet in the Google Nexus Series. Nexus 7 is a tablet pc developed by Google alongwith ASUS. The tablet is built on Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset. It has 1.3 GHz Cortex-A9 Quad core processor which could do wonders. It contains a 12-core 416 MHz Nvidia GeForce ULP GPU. No doubt you can enjoy your games well on this piece.

The design of ASUS Nexus 7 seems to be average. The back panel is designed to hold a good grip of the hand. The screen size is 7 inch with a resolution of 1280 x 800 WXGA. The backlight IPS LCD capacitive display has a pixel density of 216ppi. Combination of all this makes sure that your ASUS Nexus 7 would never ever disappoint your eyesight. Also as addition, it has 10 point multi-touch feature & a Scratch Resistant Glass. The User Interface is good. Nexus 7 has a single front facing camera of 1.2MP. This could have been made much better.

The Internal Memory of Asus Nexus 7 is 16 GB. It is also available with memory of 32GB. Sadly, it does not have a SD card slot. Hence you cannot add up any external memory to it. It has 1 GB DDR3 RAM. The battery looks to be adequate. It has a capacity of 4325mAh which could give talktime up to 10 hours. The tab seems to be bulky at 340grams.

ASUS Nexus 7 supports Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and GPS. The NFC seems to be a good addition to the product. NFC stands for Near Field Communication that would help in establishing radio communication with other device with NFC {see more here}. It has a micro USB 2.0 port & a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. It does not have HDMI port which could be helpful to connect it to TV. It also lacks FM Radio which could be useful in India.

The ASUS Nexus 7 looks amazing on specifications. It has some disappointing features at a price tag of Rs. 22,000. Let us see if it stays up to the promises in our upcoming Review.
