Karbonn K101 star review – Best dual sim phone under 1000 INR

Its called Karbonn K101* phone. This phone is just awesome and is best for a basic user. Well Karbonn K101 star is priced at 939 INR. I have used this phone for sometime before gifting to my brother, and know how useful it is. It also does`nt burn much of your cash.

The most important feature about it is that it’s a dual sim mobile phone. You can see both the network ranges shown on the display. You can receive calls from both the sim cards. You can place 2 GSM sim cards in this phone. The importance of showing the network strength of both the sim card`s network operators is that you can decide from which sim to call. So if the network strength of sim 1 network is strong then you will go calling from that sim. Well there is a standard contact directory and it asks you from which sim to call.

The display of the phone is cool. The resolution supported by the 1.8 inch screen is 128X160 px. Karbonn K101 star has an alphanumeric keypad. You can use the keys without harshly pressing. Gentle press and your work is done. The phone has one touch access to switch on the torch, make it into silent mode. Also you can set shortcuts on arrow keys as per your need. The unlocking and locking of the keypad is similar to Nokia. “Left function key”+”*” so the people who are used to nokia can use it really well. The dual sim is of dual stand by type.

Still I hope that companies should start developing mobile phones with active stand by in which you can get calls at a time from both the sim card networks. Anyways this dual sim phone will solve the purpose of using 2 sim cards with ease for sure. The loudspeaker functionality during the call is nice the voice is load and clear. Also while playing mp3 songs the speaker is decent. Not the best though. Actually at this price you can`t expect a loudspeaker to have that quality of a sony phone. It does serves the purpose.

Oh yeah, while texting if you are familiar with alphanumeric keys then you can type fast. There are two language support that is English and Hindi. While texting when we need special symbols you have to keep pressing the numeric key “1” for times till the special symbol which you need arrives. Actually for “.” You have to use numeric key “1” while texting. It could had been better by my opinion that if the * key was used to check out all special symbols and then selecting using the arrow keys would had been better.

It has a normal VGA camera, just serves purpose of capturing pictures. FM Player is cool and you can enjoy listening to FM radio using the headset. I wish it had a FM Radio which would had start without using headset. I hope with the competition of mobile manufacturers someone will surely make it available in reasonable price. Music player supports mp3 files and also video files can be playback. But there is not so much fun in watching videos in such a small screen.

In connectivity Bluetooth is one of the best medium to transfer files. Also you can use a memory card upto 4 GB to save music files and images. Actually you do need a memory card to save any photo clicked from your camera. LED torch is cool and it works well in darkness. I clicked a picture of the phone using the torch too.

The phone has a mobile tracker in it. The battery of the phone has a storage capacity of 1000 mAh and its good. The battery supports the phone with normal use for 2 days. The phone has no GPRS. The phone has data security feature for keeping the data secure of your phone. There are only two games in the phone “Snake” and “Sokoban”. Well Karbonn does have service centers in many cities. They have 1 service centre in each city. They provide the list of service centers/franchisee with contact number in the user manual. Though you will need a magnifying glass to read anything in the user manual. A warranty of 1 year for the phone and 6 months warranty for inbox accessories. The headset jack is not standard 3.5 mm. Only the given headset can be used to hear FM and music.

With so many features a dual sim multimedia phone at 939 INR is worth to buy. Karbonn K101 star is surely the best multimedia dual sim phone under 1000 INR.
